How to Market Your NFTs on Social Media: Part I – Overview

I. Introduction

Our previous WAX.School series of blog articles explained how to create a collection of NFTs as well as list, sell, and trade them on the Atomic Hub. Now let’s find out how to market them!

This article is the first in a series about WAX and social media. It provides a brief overview of four of the most common platforms: Facebook, Twitter, Telegram, and Discord. If you are already familiar with social media you can move straight to the next article which goes into greater depth.

II. Facebook

Facebook is the #1 market leader in social media worldwide. You can find various NFT groups and contact the members via Facebook Messenger. You can even place your NFTs on Facebook Marketplace, but remember that buyers’ searches are restricted to a maximum radius around a specific location (500km in Europe) and if a buyer does find your NFT, you will both have to figure out how to handle payment, which means transaction fees.

III. Twitter

Twitter is another key player in blockchain and NFT marketing. If you type in ‘WAX Blockchain’ in the search bar, you will find various groups which you can follow to stay up to date with developments. The usual way to market your NFTs on Twitter is to make phased announcements of your ‘drop’, in which case you’ll need to include the right hashtags and be prepared to engage with buyers who may be on another platform.

IV. Telegram

Telegram is a popular app among blockchain and NFT enthusiasts and professionals. It is notable as it can handle many more users than an average messaging app within the same thread – as many as 200,000 subscribers in a single ‘group’ and an unlimited amount in a one-way ‘channel’. By contrast, as one example, the messaging app WhatsApp can only handle 256 users at one time. On top of making voice and video calls, you can use Telegram to join in a group video with up to 1,000 other people. Search for ‘WAX’ and find the official WAX.io space as well many other groups where users market NFTs.

You can access Telegram on a web browser and download the app here.

V. Discord

Discord emerged from the world of video gaming and is similar to Telegram but has a lot more active users who are interested in NFTs. You can make voice and video calls and groups can theoretically have up to 500,000 users on a ‘server’, with 500 channels per server focusing on different sub-topics. Search for ‘WAX’ and you will find the WAX Blockchain space and lots of other groups dedicated to NFTs.

Like Telegram, Discord can be accessed from the web, and you can download the app here.

V. Summary

Thousands of collectors worldwide can find your NFTs through social media. But you need to get active and follow the best groups and users who share your interests.

Our next article will take an even closer look at the four platforms we have chosen and show you how to get set up and get a feel for how NFTs are marketed. The final article in this series is about how to plan and schedule your own “drop’ on social media.
